The California Department of Fish and Game is investigating the deaths from canine distemper of seven desert kit foxes found at NextEra Energy’s Genesis solar project east of the Coachella Valley. The deaths, which occurred over the past two months, are the first documented cases of canine distemper in wild desert kit foxes, according to Fish and Game officials. The investigation now underway is aimed at determining the cause of the outbreak and whether it’s an isolated case or if the disease is more widespread.
