AHI Statement OnArticle 118 Trade Letter

May 23, 2019 – Today, 19 agriculture and veterinary associations sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Perdue and U.S. Trade Representative Lighthizer urging the Administration to continue placing a high priority on combating trade barriers not based on science that reduce access to modern medicines and technologies for U.S. veterinarians, farmers and ranchers.  The letter is in response to concerns about the trend of the European Union establishing trade barriers by pushing hazard-based policies that damage U.S. exports, risk animal and crop health and limit the availability of safe and effective tools need to provide the world with an abundant food supply.  Continuing efforts on the part of U.S. trade negotiators are vital as trade conversations continue with the EU.
